a-OS 4.0 Officially Announced!

Exciting news from the R&D division of Abstergo: a-OS 4.0 coming later this year!

After extensive work with Project Legacy and the Animus DDS, Abstergo engineers have just about completed the software code that will allow users to explore the DNA memories of anyone in history!  Thanks to our Animus testers and users from around the world who have given consent, Abstergo DNA databases have been loaded with enough information to make this exciting opportunity possible.  Imagine being able to relive the memories of people who actually lived during some of history’s most exciting times!  Live as a painter during the Renaissance, a revolutionary during the French or American Revolution, a pirate in the West Indies in the exploration of a new continent…the possibilities are endless!

Stay tuned to our blog for more information as it becomes available.  a-OS 4.0 is scheduled for consumer release on 29 October 2013!

  1. Some leaked information from Abstergo says that we are going to live the Golden Age of Piracy, why this sudden interest in pirates?
Another question, how can we know that Abstergo don’t change the memories in the Animus?

  2. could the a-OS 4.0 be harmful if we you it for a long time?

    1. As all good things, extended uses do come with side effects that can be harmful.

For precautions, upon the purchase of an animus, it is highly recommended that the user reads the health warning and operation schedule and Manuel.

If one was to follow the given instructions then one would be fine. Afterall, we care about our consumers and their health and that is why we aim to provide as much support as possible.

In case one went over schedule and started to see some of the side effects such as headaches and hulusinations, one can simply pass by one of our facilities for treatment.

      Thank you for your question,

  3. With the new Portable Animus, do you think there is any possibility that schools would be able to get contracts to issue them? Along the same lines as some schools issuing personal laptops to students?

    1. Most definitely, and this all relates back to the mini article I posted before below here in the comments.

      1. Look that is probably the most awesome idea I’ve ever heard. I’ve got a nephew that I’ve had basically no interest in history. With the Animus and DDS we can show these people as more than just dry words on a page.

Of course it’s expensive and specialized but given how you have so much ‘gamification’ of everything (how else does Facebook stay afloat? Farmville.) It seems like the best way to go about keeping people looped in on the importance of history.

I’d actually heard of a few problems such as not being able to figure out what’s real and what’s game but if that can be controlled and steps taken to make sure someone doens’t have a complete psychotic break from reality you can get something like where Neo in the Matrix could just have specific skills dumped into their brain. Real Applicable Skills.

Trouble with THAT is you’d suddenly have wackos like Jack Thompson going ‘SEE! Vidya games CAN be used as murder sims now!’ *eyeroll*

I’d just be happy to see this expanded into a series of nintendo wii-like game experience like you had with the Wii Fit game and inspire people to get up and Do.

Very exciting times we’re living in. Glad the 2012 kerfluffle was just smoke and mirrors and a really weird solar maximum.

        1. Have no worries in terms of knowing when your in the animus or not. We will be developing a retinal flash to be used during the session. People who want to know when they are lucid dreaming use such devices; during rapid eye movement, the device starts to flash two red lights, each one on its own, and that signals to the user that they are in a virtual world; therefore they can always keep track of what is real and what is not.

You have some interesting points in your comment as well, good job.

          Thank You,

    2. Hello sorry for double posting in thread but an idea i just had while poking around elsewindow. Would there be any way of adding user generated content? Sure it detracts from the authenticity but allowing a greater degree of participation and interactivity would possibly allow people practice and gai na deeper understanding of what it was like.

That or give people a better sandbox to play in.

I had a thought on just what sort of editing could be done behind the scenes between memory extraction and it getting streamlined into consumer product, but given some of the material seen elsewhere (Desmond I”m looking at you man.) I’m rather afraid this isn’t the place. There is a thing I’d been told from a friend of mine that has to do with perspective.

  4. Um… I know that the animus is both education and entertainment- do you foresee teaming up with schools? Also, would it be possible to learn a new language, or recover lost languages with the animus?

    1. Most definitely you can learn a new language from the animus. Afterall it is designed to educated you as well as entertain you.

As for schools, we have in-fact started some preliminary contracts with some universities and a few high-schools to see how useful the animus would be in a classroom environment. The process would be a genetical synchronized memory sequence that a professor or teacher can select from recovered memory data and the entire class can relive the event. Currently the programming only allows you to view it as a spectator from above and most of the time as a ghost on the field itself. The plan is to increase the range in order to recreate as solid figures giving you the ability to interact with objects and more. Don’t worry, since it is a recollection of a memory, if not memories, any changes you may make will not affect the flow of history and the future since the changes return to normal once the system is restarted or after the session is over.

      1. I think that is a great idea! It would be way cooler to actually relive the history as compared to just learning it from a textbook.

        1. That is the plan, especially since textbooks contain plenty of biased and falsified information.

          Thank You,

          1. Oh! I didn’t think about the bias point. That’s also pretty great!

          2. No worries. We learn something new everyday and we are glad to have been part of your daily learning experience.

      2. I see it all as a bunch of whiney twelve year olds that just found out there’s more to the internet than tumblr. Relax. Chill out internet person thing. Granted it’s all very silly but at the same time all of the above at least made me laugh at the absurdity of it all.

    1. It has been a long time since the last time I dealt with that project. However, I’ll let maintenance know.

          1. hello abstergo i hope your going well ive got a question.im wondering how far can we go back in time ??

          2. Currently it depends on your biological meter. This means up to the start of your ancestral birth chain. With that, traces can go back to as close as the start if time itself.

      1. I’ve noticed that some information about game appears here a little early than anywhere. Nice.

  10. Astonishing, this could be a good way to upgrade our training. Nice work!

    1. Big Boss,

Thanks! This is going to be Abstergo’s most advanced biotech breakthrough yet! The release is already highly anticipated, and presales are available and selling hot right now! The training prospect is of great value, but even greater will be the ability to dive deeper and experience the TRUE history of the world!
